Ontarios Highlands Logo PNGThe Ontario Trails Council, with our host partner Renfrew County, and our funding partner Ontario’s Highlands Tourism Organization are pleased to invite all trail enthusiasts, trail managers, owners and operators to attend this years provincial trails conference.

“This years Trailhead Conference at Calabogie Peaks Resort will be another in a great series of conferences the Ontario Trails Council (OTC) runs in order to bring experts in trails together with communities that support trails,” says Jack deWit, OTC President.

The Trailhead Ontario 2016 will take place June 19-21 at Calabogie Peaks Resort. The conference features education on trail building, trail funding, information on combating Lymes Disease, as well as leading information on paddling and Water Trails, the Trans Canada Trail and new relations with First Nations.

Trailhead Ontario will have presenters from local, regional, provincial and national groups talking about the development of trails. “It takes a huge effort of volunteers, government and corporate sponsors to make such great regional trails, like the Rideau Heritage Hiking Trail, Madawaska Valley and other trails work, adds Patrick Connor, OTC Executive Director.

The County has done years of work on trails, and we wanted to bring provincial level content to the county so that everyone here could learn what is going in around the region, with reports from Sentier Prescott Russell, Mattawa-Bonfield, Cataraqui Conservation and others, we will learn more about how others succeed in trails and how the province is supporting our efforts with funding and legislation, notes Jason Davis from Renfrew County.
